Ahimsa Mandala by shantitees

Ahimsa Mandala

Mandala adapted from the Jain symbol of the vow of Ahimsa, a rule of conduct barring the killing or injuring of any living being, and the fundamental principle that is the cornerstone of the Jainist ethics and doctrine. Ahimsa is also the main yama of yoga practice. Ahimsa also required the non-harming, violence, or injury to the self as well as to other living beings.
The Jainist Ahimsa mandala consists of the word “Ahimsa” in script in the middle of a dharmachakra, or wheel of dharma, with 24 spokes, symbolizing the 24 tirthankars, or enlightened beings. Our version uses India style decorated stylized petals and leaves for the 24 wheel spokes, to emphasize the concept of life.
